A Century of Community
The Village of Westchester was incorporated in 1925, and in 2025 we proudly celebrate our centennial anniversary.
Early Beginnings
Westchester's history begins in the early 1920s when developers recognized the potential of this area west of Chicago. The village was planned as a modern suburban community, offering families an escape from the crowded city while maintaining easy access to downtown Chicago.
Growth and Development
Throughout the mid-20th century, Westchester grew steadily. The post-World War II housing boom brought new families to the area, and the village developed its infrastructure, schools, and community services to meet their needs.
Modern Westchester
Today, Westchester is home to approximately 16,000 residents. The village maintains its commitment to providing excellent municipal services while preserving the community-oriented atmosphere that has defined it for 100 years.
Celebrating 100 Years
As we celebrate our centennial in 2025, we honor the generations of residents, officials, and community leaders who have made Westchester the vibrant community it is today.
