Juneteenth Community Celebration 2024

The Village of Westchester's first annual Juneteenth Community Celebration was a tremendous success! Event Highlights: Held at Gladstone Park, the celebration featured: • Over 70 vendors including local businesses, artisans, and restaurants • Live music and entertainment • Family-friendly activities • Educational exhibits about Juneteenth history About Juneteenth: Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom - two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is now recognized as a federal holiday celebrating freedom and African American culture. Thank You: We thank everyone who attended, our vendors, sponsors, and volunteers who made this event possible. We look forward to continuing this celebration as an annual tradition in Westchester.
